Sam was not only a lacrosse player, but was influential in founding and organizing the sport in Richmond.

Richmond Roots Sam Gilmore was a long-time Richmond resident.

Barriers Overcome In Sam’s day lacrosse teams had to travel by boat to compete against teams in New Westminster, Vancouver and Burnaby.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Recognition The lacrosse box at Brighouse Park is named after Sam Gilmore. The Kiwanis Club also awarded him the Good Citizen award.
