Mike Charlton
PROFILE
Mike has provided exceptional service for every school he worked at in Richmond. No matter his role, Mike stayed committed to coaching and developing his students. In all three sports he has coached, his teams continually qualify for provincial level competition, with a number of his teams winning provincial medals in these sports.
Richmond Roots Mike immigrated to Canada in 1989. He has worked for the Richmond School District since September 1989. Mike has promoted, coached, and led multiple sports for over 30 years, developing thousands of student athletes throughout the city.
Did You Know Mike’s father was a World Snooker and Pool Champion, “Steady Eddie” Charlton.
Barriers Overcome Mike helped address the many barriers in sport including funding, facility space, travel challenges, coaching shortages and parental issues to help countless athletes achieve their goals and chase their dreams.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
Recognition Mike has won multiple BC School Sports awards and Richmond Secondary Schools Athletic Association awards. His awards reflect his overall contributions to sport in terms of his fairness and equity in sports. His coaching excellence has impacted athletes at the district, zone and provincial levels.

Championship Throughout his 30 year career, Mike has helped many student athletes and teams win various championships at the Richmond, Vancouver and District and Provincial levels in badminton, rugby and track and field.
