Eagles Field Hockey
PROFILE
The Eagles had a storybook career. The team competed in the Greater Vancouver Junior Field Hockey League from 1992 through 1999, during this time they never lost a league game. In addition, they won six consecutive provincial championships. Their philosophy was “Everybody wins with teamwork” – Lance Carey.
Richmond Roots The Eagles were formed in 1992 as part of the development of junior girls’ field hockey by the Richmond Field Hockey Club. All but one of the 20 players grew up and went to school in Richmond.
Did You Know While many of the girls were teammates on the Eagles, they also competed against each other in school sports.
Barriers Overcome The Eagles maintained their commitment to each other and the sport through their teenage years amidst the demands of school, family, social and physical development.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
Recognition In 1995, the Eagles won Richmond Review Team of the Week and won the inaugural Richmond Sports Awards Team of the Year in 1999.

Championship The Eagles won six consecutive Provincial Field Hockey Championships from 1994-1999. Eight players from the Eagles played on the McRoberts Strikers Sr. Field Hockey Team that won the BC High School AAA Provincial Championship in 1998.

Contribution to Richmond Sport The Eagles were a prominent force in field hockey around the province and inspired many girls through their passion and dedication to try the sport. While playing, many of the Eagles were coaching and umpiring the game of field hockey.
