PROFILE
At the age of 17 Betty had her promising swimming career cut short because of the World War II. She later came to Richmond and became a coach, founder and administrator of the Richmond Summer Swim Club.
Richmond Roots Betty moved to Richmond with her husband Dennis in 1947. She was actively involved in the founding of the Richmond Swim Club (now known as the Kigoos) in the early 1960s, along with her husband, Dennis Hedges.
Barriers Overcome Betty started the Ladies Aquasize to help raise money for the Richmond Summer Swim Club.
