Arjan Bhullar
PROFILE
The Bhullar family has built the Bhullar Wrestling Club on their family farm providing an opportunity for the community to share and grow the family’s passion for wrestling.
Richmond Roots Born, raised and currently still living in East Richmond. Went to Whiteside Elementary and graduated from McRoberts Secondary. Member of the Richmond’s Bhullar Wrestling Club.
Did You Know Upon retiring, Arjan has switched to mix martial arts and is currently undefeated and competing in the UFC.
Barriers Overcome There were no high school wrestling programs in Richmond when Arjan started out. He was the first Canadian of Punjabi-Indian descent to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Game and to compete in Freestyle Wrestling at the Olympics.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
Recognition Arjan received the Queens Diamond Jubilee Award in 2013 along with the Sport BC University Athlete of the Year in 2011. He was also awarded the Canadian Wrestler of the Year in 2009 and SFU Athlete of the Year in 2008.
